Photo by Ted LehmannPhotography has been a part of my life since I was a kid. I remember making a box camera in scouts. My passion has grown from there. What I captured on the first few rolls of film may not have been my best work, but those images opened up a whole new world for me. The landscapes of my travels became framed within my lenses. I wanted more…

After four years of photography classes and winning a few local and state competitions, I became a freelance photographer. I have published pictures in the magazine "Bluegrass Unlimited," on band web sites, and on various CD covers.

Music has also been a part of my life since I was a kid. Influenced by my folks and my brothers and sister, I was exposed to every kind of music from Big Band, Classical, The 60’s revolution, Rock, Disco(unfortunately), Jazz and Blues, to Country, Southern Rock, Folk, and finally... to Bluegrass. The musical world is another heart-lifting art for me. Watching a musician on stage is magic. The emotions that are seen and felt when the tune comes together and is solid, give me goose-bumps. A sentiment I see on the faces in the crowd...

Years ago I started putting my two passions together. In the digital era, the photo ops have blossomed. Bluegrass music has becomePhoto by Ted Lehmann more widely known. To quote a famous phrase, "Thank you music lovers!" In my pictures I try to capture the thrill of the music, the emotions of the music, and the drive that comes out with each note. I want the viewer to be able to relive the moment as their own.

I truly love what I do with my pictures. I hope to share some of that with you, here at my web site. Thanks for stopping by. I’ll see you at a festival somewhere down the road!
